Do you have to avoid eating out because you are embarrassed or inconvenienced by your missing teeth? Gone are the days of ill fitting dentures, bulky dental bridges, or unsightly missing teeth. Today, you can fully restore and replace your natural teeth with Dental Implants. Dental implants are made with dental prostheses secured firmly into your existing jaw bone by biocompatible titanium posts. They are more comfortable and require less maintenance than dentures. Dental implants look and feel just like natural teeth, and are also a healthier tooth replacement choice than dental bridges, because they don’t require the drilling of your nearby healthy teeth. Make an appointment to see Dr. Gerber at Gentle Dental Care for your dental implants consultation today. Dr. Gerber is a highly qualified restorative dentist. Gentle Dental Care proudly restores smiles throughout Tyler, TX, Whitehouse, Flint, Bullard, Lindale, and the surrounding communities.
What’s the Dental Implants Process?
- Initial Exam
o During your initial consultation, Dr. Gerber will determine if you meet the conditions necessary to undergo dental implant treatment. This may consist of an oral examination, full-mouth x-rays, diagnostic casts, and photographs.
- Implant Placement
o Next, the implants will be surgically placed. Swelling may occur then disappear within 7 days of surgery. Sutures are removed 7 to 10 days after surgery, and a soft diet is recommended during the first 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.
o The implant must be given time to completely heal and fuse with the jaw bone (usually 3 to 6 months)
- Abutment and Temporary Crown Placement
o The implants are checked for osseointegration, the abutments are placed, and x-rays are taken. An impression of your mouth is taken for the final prosthesis, and a conversion prosthesis is made. Your sutures are removed 7 to 10 days later.
o Your tissue integrated prosthesis is completed and placed onto the implants. Final adjustments are made, and x-rays are taken. Oral hygiene maintenance appointments are required at 3 to 6 month intervals following the placement of your final prosthesis.

Dental implants not only look and feel better than other methods, they also preserve the healthy bone and facial tissue that will keep you looking younger, longer.
